We've just added an Apple iMac workstation loaded with Adobe Creative Suite 6, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, and Dreamweaver. The new Digital Media Lab has an Epson photo/film scanner, Wacom tablet, a Focusrite Scarlett 2-input soundcard, and a Nikon D3100 DSLR. You can use it to create movies, graphics, and audio, scan old photos, create webpages, and more. Thanks to the Friends of the Library for funding the DML with monies raised in the 2012 Annual Appeal.

If you're interested in learning more, we are holding drop-in introduction sessions every Wednesday in October from 6-8pm! Bring your questions and get setup so you can use the DML.

The library is accepting non-perishable foods in lieu of money for overdue fines during the month of September. In the spirt of Food for Fines, the amount of the donation should be comparable to the amount of the fine owed. Donated food items should be in good condition and not have expired dates. Collected food will be donated to the Wilmington Food Pantry. Suggested items are listed on the Community Fund website.

In your opinion, what were some of the best books of 2013? You can vote now on which titles you feel should be in the YALSA Top Ten list, along with other teen readers across the country. Voting is open now through October 22nd. (My pick is Tilt by Ellen Hopkins - gritty realistic fiction at its finest.)

Did you know? There is now an iPad available just for teens to borrow for up to the two hours in the Teen Zone. It's loaded with the hottest games!

Newsflash! There is now a True Stories section in Teen Non-fiction - for those of you who enjoy a hearty serving of reality. We have books about ghastly crimes, haunted happenings, tales of survival, and even a book about fairies (true story?!). Look above the Biographies or ask your friendly librarian for assistance (or recommendations!)

We had a successful “Dig Into Reading” summer reading program this year.  Nearly 800 kids signed up and collectively logged 5,348 books!   Any child who was signed up for the program and read or listened to 5 or more books  was eligible to receive a certificate for a free ice cream at MVP-Merrimack Valley Pavillion.  Stop by the Children’s room by August 30 to pick your child's up if you haven’t done so already.  Also stop by to pick up your child's reading certificate, decorated prairie dogs and any additional stickers he or she may have earned!   Thank you to the Friends of the Library and our sponsors for helping make our our summer reading program such a success!

Check out the pictures of our summer fun!

We would like feedback from everyone who participated in the summer reading program.  What did you like about it?  What would you like to see improved?  Please tell us so we can make next year's program even better.
