    The library has a special collection of books by and for U.S. Veterans. These include books about transitioning back to civilian life, veterans' benefits and personal stories by those who served in combat. Check them out and spread the word as we honor and support the men and women who have served in the armed services on Memorial Day.

    Spring is here and it is a perfect time to visit one of the Massachusetts State Parks. The library's pass (available only on weekends) provides free parking. Reserve the pass and enjoy the long awaited warm weather.

    Congratulations to the winners of the Annual Poetry Contest 2014! The theme this year was "reading." Over 200 entries were submitted. Thank you to our judges: Kendra Amaral, Assistant Town Manager, Jean Chang, Chairman of the Wilmington Arts Council and Alison Schwartz, Teen Services Librarian. Winners and those who received an Honorable Mention are invited to Poetry Night on April 29 at 7 pm to read their poems and receive awards and certificates.  For names of winners and poems click here.

    The library is in the middle of a strategic planning process to map our course for the next 5 years. In order to create a plan that best serves Wilmington, it is important to hear from residents.  Please complete the library's survey. It should only take 5 to 10 minutes You are also invited to attend the next Community Forum on Tuesday, April 29, 1 pm.  A facilitator will lead the forum. Light refreshments will be served. Please register if you plan to attend the Community Forum.

    Welcome to our new Technology Librarian Brad McKenna.  Brad brings his technology experience from the private sector and will receive his Masters Degree in Library Science from Simmons College in May 2014.

    Do you knit, crochet, quilt, or do other needlework? The library is forming a new group, Needleworks that will meet Friday mornings at 10am starting March 7.  Bring your project to the first meeting and work away while enjoying an hour or two of conversation and camaraderie.  There will be no formal instruction but those that come can share their knowledge and advise others. Tea and cookies provided.  Please register for the first meeting. Drop in thereafter

    Too cold to leave your house and drive to the library? Browse the movie selection on Hoopla.  There also is a great selection of children's titles. "Mighty Machines- Winter Blast" is perfect choice for the those kids who like to watch the snow plows at work.

    Claire Dickson, winner of five downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards for Jazz and Blues vocals, will perform with Michael McLaughlin, keyboards, Greg Loughman, bass, and Eric Rosenthal drums. Claire carries on in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald and Sara Vaughn, and will delight you with her own interpretations and improvisations on the American Songbook, bebop, Latin and modern jazz classics."
    What better way to spend Valentine’s Day!   Ticket price is $15 and includes a complimentary glass of wine and dessert; must be 21+. Doors open at 6:45 and cocnert begins at 7 pm.
