Kids Storytime

The library offers Family Drop-In Storytimes once a month on Saturdays and PJ Storytimes once a month on Mondays evenings during the school year.  

The library also offers weekly storytime seessions during the fall, winter and spring for babies, toddlers, and 3, 4 and 5 year olds.  Storytimes help build a foundation for a lifelong love of books and reading.   Registration is required. 

The following six-week sessions are offered during the 2011/2012 school year: 

Fall Session 1:  September 13-October 20
Fall Session 2:  November 8-December 15
Winter: January 10–February 16
Spring: March 6-April 12

Storytimes offered are:
Baby Times (Thursdays, 10:00-10:30 am)
This sharing program of songs, rhymes, games and picture books is for babies under the age of two years and their caregivers.   Siblings are welcome to participate if caregivers cannot attend without them.

Time for Twos (Thursdays, 11:00-11:30 am)
This fun program for two year-olds consists of finger plays, songs, flannel board stories and age-appropriate books. Parents and caregivers accompany the child into the story room and participate in the activities.

Storytimes for Three Year Olds (Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 9:30-10:00 am)
This is an introduction to a structured storytime for three year-olds. Storytimes are created around themes such as seasons, holidays, siblings, and pets and feature books and other fun activities.  Parent and caregiver presence is the story room is optional, depending on the needs of the child.

Storytimes for Four and Five Year Olds (Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 10:30-11:00 am)
Children ages four, and five years and not yet attending kindergarten, are eligible for this storytime for the ready listener.  If necessary, the caregiver may accompany the child during the early sessions.

Storytimes will be cancelled on days the Wilmington Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather.
