Interested in seeing how ebook readers work? The library now has three Amazon Kindle readers available for patron use that are pre-loaded with books and can be checked out for one week.
Who can borrow the Kindle?
The Kindle can be borrowed by MVLC patrons over 18 years of age with a library card in good standing. Patrons from other MVLC libraries must come to the Wilmington Memorial Library to pick up and return the Kindle. Kindles are not available for Inter-Library Loan and cannot be left in the bookdrop.
How can I get one?
Kindles can be reserved online using the Library Catalog or by calling the Information Desk at (978) 694-2099. You will be contacted by email or phone when a Kindle is ready for you. Kindles can be checked out at the Information Desk until one (1) hour before the library closes. Kindles must be returned to the Information Desk at least thirty (30) minutes before the library closes. When possible, the Kindle will be checked for operating condition and completeness in the presence of the patron. Upon picking up the Kindle, patrons must sign a Kindle Agreement acknowledging financial responsibility for lost or damaged equipment. Patrons will need to show a valid license in addition to a library card.
How long can I use the Kindle?
Kindles are available for one week with no renewals.
Are there any costs involved?
The Kindle is free to borrow. However, once a Kindle is checked out to a patron, the Kindle becomes the responsibility of that patron per the Kindle Agreement. The patron is responsible for full replacement cost if the Kindle or any parts are lost, stolen, damaged, or otherwise not returned. Late return fees are $5.00 per day
to a maximum of $25.00.
Can I download books onto the Kindle?
