Reserve and Interlibrary Loan Service

Reserve Service

If an item in our collection is checked out, you may place it on reserve in the online library catalog. You will need your library card number and your pin number (usually the last four digits of your phone number). You will be notified by telephone or email notification when the item is available for you at the library. If the item in our collection has an on shelf status, please call the library at 978-658-2967 to ask that it be held for you.

Interlibrary Loan

The Wilmington Memorial Library can obtain items from other libraries in the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC). To request an item from another MVLC library, please follow the same procedures as above. Items requested within MVLC usually arrive with seven to ten days if there is no waiting list for the item. If you need the item immediately, it is recommended that you visit the library that has the item on shelf rather than placing a request for interlibrary loan.

It is also possible to obtain books from Massachusetts' libraries in other networks and throughout the United States if necessary. The Virtual Catalog (link on MVLC online catalog toolbar) allows you to search multiple online catalogs simultaneously and place requests for books not available in MVLC. Requests for books not owned by MVLC libraries may take six weeks or longer to arrive.
